Karl Stegger was one of the greatest Danish actors. Karl Stegger was born: Carl Johan Stegger Sørensen. He later replaced the "c" in his first name with a "k" to further his acting-career. He was born in Aarhus on the January 11th 1911. Stegger was educated at Aarhus theatre, where he was hired as an actor for 5 years until 1951. After 1951 he worked at various theatres all around Denmark. But Karl Stegger was mostly famous for his various, and mostly, bi-roles in Danish films and TV. Karl Stegger had his film debut in 1950 with smaller role in [Smedestræde 4]. Stegger subsequently acted in well over 160 films (almost everyone Danish), where he mostly played down-to-earth and sly types. Stegger seldom had a lead part in any film. He became famous in Denmark when he got the part of the father in the Danish film-series: "Far til Fire" in 1955, after Ib Schønberg died (who originally had the part). Another famous part he had was as the scrap dealer in "Olsen-banden i Jylland" from 1971. In 1971 he got a Danish film-price, a "Bodil", for a role as a real-estate salesman in "Ballade på Christianshavn". In his later years, Stegger became even more famous for his role as the Swedish-consul in the Danish TV-epic "Matador". His last role was in 1980 in "Trællenes børn". Karl Stegger died on the 13th of April 1980, he is buried in Søndermark cemetery, Frederiksberg.- Actress

One of the most important Danish directors of the last three decades and one of Danish cinema's few acknowledged auteurs, Malmros took his inspiration from the french new wave and Truffaut in particular. He started as a self taught director and debuted with En mærkelig kærlighed (1968) which is an amateur film that has not been in distribution since its premiere. His career got going with the largely selffinanced Lars Ole, 5c (1973) which, like his next films, was based on his own childhood experiences in Aarhus. His flair for depicting the pains and bittersweet troubles of early adolescence raised him to the status of a leading director in Denmark. Drenge (1977) ("Boys") was a description of the evolvement of male sexuality from the early pre-puberty experimentations to the grown man's sexual ventures. Tree of Knowledge (1981) delved into the group dynamics and the first love experiences of teenagers in an Aarhus public school and is widely praised as a masterpiece and his finest work. Beauty and the Beast (1983) ("Beauty and the Beast") told the tale of a father's protectiveness of his teenage daughter with only the sligtest incestous undercurrents. _Århus by night (1989)_ is a meta-film about a director from the province meeting the cynical Copenhagen crew inspired from the making of Drenge. Pain of Love (1992) ("Pains of love") is about a lively young high school girl who falls in love with her teacher. They become a couple and when she becomes pregnant the dark sides of her personality begin to appear. Barbara (1997) is his first film based on a literary work and a departure from the highly personal tone in his other films.- Casting Director

Anne Linnet is a well-known Danish composer, musician and singer. Born in Århus, she studied at the conservatoire Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium. In the late 1960s she started as a folk musician, playing in a group alongside her then husband, Holger Laumann. After releasing a debut solo album, 'Sweet Thing' (1973), she co-started a female rock group which became a leader in Danish political rock throughout the 1970s and acted as role models to many female musicians. Linnet herself, divorced from her husband, went public as a lesbian. The group was dissolved in 1981, and Anne Linnet pursued a successful solo career which was first based around the logically titled Anne Linnet Band. Her greatest success was the solo effort 'Jeg er jo lige her' (1988) which sold more than 400,000 copies in Denmark alone. She was also the lead figure of the band Marquis de Sade on two groundbreaking albums, and she recorded popular song versions of poetry by Tove Ditlevsen and Kai Normann Andersen. Since mid-1990s Anne Linnet saw her popularity and record sales decline in spite of the release of several solo albums as well as another band project and, in 2002, the regrouping of Marquis de Sade. At times Anne Linnet has also taken an interest in the behind-the-scenes work of the Danish music industry by starting her own record company and attempting to reestablish Copenhagen night club Montmartre.- Elith Foss was born on 8 August 1911 in Århus, Denmark. He was an actor, known for Flagermusen (1968), Blaavand melder Storm (1938) and Alle mand paa dæk (1942). He died on 19 April 1972 in Denmark.
